How do i get the icon (not widget) to show how many messages i have? like a little pop-up number or something. Right now I am only getting the icon in the status bar in the top.

    thanks!!

The widget is the only thing that'll show how many unread messages you have. The regular app icon won't.

Exactly. Icons are icons: just static images. If you need any sort of variation, a widget is the solution.

Is there a reason you don't want to use a widget? I know there isn't a standard widget, but there are lots of 3rd-party ones.

Okay thank-you! I didnt want to use the widget because I thought that my messages would be shown on the screens but the looks exactly like shortcut but show the little message button.
