Root radio upgrade with S-OFF

is it possable to upgrade the radio from stock to 2.15 if the phone is rooted with s-off without wiping anything?

yes, i did it. download the PB31IMG.ZIP file, put it in the root of your SD card, and then boot into hboot. it will ask if you want to upgrade, say yes. let it do its thing, done...

took about 5 minutes, maybe a little less. as long as you have s-off, you can go from the stock radio directly to 2.15.

Just want to add I've also done this. Went Unrevoked Forever > Install 2.15 radio > Install 8/1 Froyo leak, coming from a stock 2.1 install with a 1.x radio and only root.

How is the 8/1 leak running for you? i'm considering trying it out.

The first time I installed it, it was pretty glitchy but I think that's because I was having TiBackup restore too many things from my 2.1 install. Right now I'm running one that adrynalyne uploaded without the radio since I already had the 2.15 radio (I think you can find this one in the 8/1 leak thread). I just did minimal TiBackup restores (SMS, contacts, some other settings) and the phone has been running flawlessly. I've also got the undervolt Hydra kernel installed and my battery has been amazing. After 24 hours off the charger I was still at 50% battery with moderate use the previous day, on the stock 1300mah battery.

This phone flies on Froyo with the right setup.

Boot into HBOOT and check the top data. It will say s-on or s-off.

What i've noticed with the .15 upgrade. I am now seeing download/upload speeds of 2.5mb download, and 1mb upload.

Funny you mention speeds on the 2.15 radio because that's the only thing I've noticed that isn't performing as well as my previous stock setup. My download speeds are about half what I was getting before (1mbps compared to 2), but my upload is about the same. I don't really notice the difference, though.

lookup unrevoked forevor on google. read through the directions on their site carefully. if you agree to all their terms of it being your fault if you **** it up then go ahead and install it.

basically the steps are:
install unrevoked 3.0
download the unrevoked_forevor.zip update from their website.
put the unrevoked_forevor.zip onto your sdcard
reboot into clockworks recovery and install the zip from your sdcard
reboot phone.

to check if you have s-off reboot into hboot and read near the top of the screen.
it will either say s-on or s-off

Is it just me or is it Super Strange that there are so many mixed results with this 2.15 radio. Seems about 50/50 in better or worse dl speed reports? I guess that's what we get for playing with the unknown.

I'm hopeful it's just because this is a (potentially) non-final version and they're testing out different things and that the final OTA has a more consistent radio in terms of download speeds. I love everything else about 2.15, though.
