Root Re-rooting HTC m8 , need help for rooting and unrooting , only want to run STOCK

since i have unrooted hte m8 relocked the bootloader and solved my battery problem i was thinking of re rooting the phone , but i found this Towelroot which only roots your phone , thats all i want , no Custom ROM , i want root access , but some say i need to unlock the bootloader first is it so ?

and if so i will unlock it again and then flash TWRP recovery and do a backup of the stock so if i need o unroot i can restore my own backup ?? or will there be any problem if i do so, and if not then i will root the device ,

i have read that supersu lets you unroot your device without the need to restore the online nandroid backup based on your CID, what do you think guys , please help .

Off the of my head I don't think it will, there's the option in the SU app but from what I remember it doesn't fully uproot your phone. Will need someone else to confirm this?

Yeah , it would be great if someone had experienced it , where is the moderator , he might be knowing it or can you ask on xda , apparently they won't as I don't have developer permission.
