Hi Folks I could use some real expert help here. :(

Here's the situation:

Phone will turn on, as in screen comes on. Splash of Galaxy S and freezes there.
I can get in to ROM CW screen.
But it can't read my SD card!!!
So I can't load any of the ROMS on the SD card.

Swapping the SD card doesn't help.

I can put the phone in download mode, but when I fire up ODIN on a computer and
plug in the phone, ODIN does not recognize it (nor does my computer).
My computer says unknown device plugged in!

I am stumped!
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Well I just made some progress, but I am not there yet.

I discovered that the phone wasn't recognized by the PC because it didn't have the right drivers installed.
(This is despite my having been able to connect the phone for years to the PC to transfer files etc. Go figure!)

I installed the PC drivers and Odin now saw the phone (Yellow bar for ID:Com).
I loaded the PIT file and got the following messages on the left side:

<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0/fail0)
<ID:0/003> Added!
<ID:0/003>Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003>File analysis..

This is where it freezes!

....
Made a little more progress...
I downloaded some other .tar files (tried with both 512 and 803 .pit files).
Started out OK but in the end the result was a FAIL! :(
....
More progress...
Was able to complete Odin with a JVR.tar file
Now the problem is that the system is in a boot cycle (Swisscom shows, then Galaxy, then Swisscom etc.)
I can still get to the Boot settings, but nothing there seems to help, including clearing cache etc. etc. :(
