reboot loop issue... help!Support

    Hi everyone,

I recently bought a second-hand Nexus One for a very cheap price because the honest user told me his phone sometimes had a rebooting issue. I thought it was related to he custom ROMS installed and, given that I already decided to restore it to the original stock rom, I guessed I could have easily solved the problem.

Unfortunately it's not like that. I think I restored the phone to the original rom three or four times by now (I'm now running 2.3.4), using different methods (first the PASSIMG.zip then through SDK and terminal), wiped off cache and internal memory several times, erased SD card even more and the issue is still there: the phone could work fine for a few hours but sometimes when using it suddenly shuts down and tries, failing, to reboot. The display shows the coloured X screen for 2 seconds, the shuts down again and the X comes out again and so on...

The only method I've found to actually stop this loop is to remove battery and put it back in after a minute or so. Then the phone works well until the issue reappears.

I've read in forums and wikis about this issue but couldn't find a proper answer. I really hope something can be done because I don't want to look for another nexus one and my version is the one with AMOLED display (I'm from Italy and here the most common version is the one with the SLCD display).

    Please help!
    Thank you

    Welcome to AF!

Have you tried flashing a stock/different kernel? I say this because it sounds like either a hardware problem or hardware driver problem.

Is the battery hot when you pull it?

Hi alostpacket and thank you for the reply,

No, i just tried to wipe out all the data and restore a stock rom. I usually used the xda developes Nexus One wiki to do this but I never read anything about changing the kernel. Is it a difficult procedure?

The battery is definitely not hot when the issue appears. The bottom of the phone is a bit warm though, but I don't know what is in there and if this thing is normal.

Flashing a kernel is about the same complexity as flashing a ROM but they are different processes.

I haven't done it in a loooong time though so you may want to ask for help with kernel flashing here:
