Recent "Official Build" leak: what to do?

I recently rooted using Scotty85's awesome noob-friendly guide, using a temporary recovery so that I could receive the inevitable ICS OTA whenever that comes.

Now, a few days ago, an official version of ICS w/ Sense (and without) leaked. Apparently it is highly stable and probably just a few small degrees removed from the final OTA.

I'm a new member and can't post links, but simple search on "HTC Rezound" and limit search to the last few days and it's all you'll see. Frankly I'm a bit surprised that there is no mention of it yet in this forum.

My general questions and concerns (as best as I can articulate them in my noobspeak):

Should I just wait at this point? I'm good at following directions, but I'm a total noob in terms of understanding what I'm actually doing "under the hood". Since this new leak is "official", is it easier to install/flash? From what I've read, it's actually easier to do the update on a non-rooted phone. I don't know the implications of all of this. I'd love to check it out but I don't want to wipe and re-setup the phone again, and want to keep the phone in a state such that I can receive the real OTA when it comes.

Does anyone have two cents on this?

I'm rooted and running stock. My thought is that the OTA is close and when it's pushed, will not wipe my phone. I'm waiting until maybe the end of the month or so. If it doesn't show up by then, I'll probably pull the trigger on the leak.

i personally would wait. the leak contains new firmware(hboot, radio, some other stuff) wich are not compatible with the older GB or ICS custom roms.

also, its a big comitment,as with our crappy unlocked s-on status, there is no way to roll back to what you have now. due to the incompatibility with the older firmware, you cannot even make a nandroid and restore it after reunlocking the the new RUU. in other words, youre stuck there until the official is leaked and/or devs whip up custom roms to work with new firmware(i see scrossler has allready updated cleanrom ics)

also, running the RUU will wipe your data.

last and not least, you may NOT recieve an OTA when it happens. the updater scripts tend to look for only the official build numbers,so being on a leak unofficial build, youll be forced to run an RUU manually to update to the official release.

there are some modded, prerooted, slightly older versions(build number 3.22.605.1) you can flash in recovery that are compatible with your current firmware. if you want a taste if ICS,flash one of them, they are perfectly safe and you can always restore a backup of your current setup.

    hope that helps :)

I updated with the unrooted leak since I'm not unlocked or rooted. It's running great. But If you don't want to have to -re-setup, don't do it. It wipes your phone.

If you're not completely comfortable relocking the bootloader; flashing the leak; re-unlocking, reflashing the updated Amon Ra recovery, flashing a new ROM, then completely setting up everything again (and making a new Nandroid, since the old Nandroids will probably no longer work entirely), don't bother, because you'll have to do it all over again when the OTA comes down.

Then there are flashaholics like me who enjoy the pain.
