Help Recent text messaging issues

Recently, I have had several issues with my text messaging. As was mentioned in another thread, I only have the default text messaging app on my phone.
I had all my text messages deleted on Feb 1st


Also, now when i reply to texts, sometimes my text goes to someone else instead of the person I clicked on to reply.
Its done this several times on me in the last 3 weeks. I dont realize it til the message is gone

I hate to suggest this because you lose all your settings, but have you tried doing a factory reset?

I havent tried that... I have had the phone since the day it became available, and have NEVER had a single issue.
I wonder if i am the only person on earth with issues like this?

Another thing to try - though I freely admit this doesn't REALLY make sense.
If you have lots (by 'lots' I mean thousands) of old text messages saved on your phone you might try cleaning out some of the old ones to see if that helps.

And/or - under menu > settings > applications try clearing data and settings under the messaging app. I don't know what settings you'll lose if you do this, so be prepared to have to reset some things.

Last thing that comes to mind, since you mentioned you only have the stock messenger, try one from the Market (I use GO) to see if it behaves better.

The text going to the wrong person is a known android issue and google is still working on getting the fix out.

Your text messages will be deleted when you reach the space limit for text messages.
