record streaming audio from Android phone

How can I record audio streaming on my Android Samsung Galaxy S2?

I have have installed an App that plays music that I'd like to record...

plug 3.5mm cable into the headphone port, and plug the other end into a recorder or the line in on your computer

there must be a more elegant method than this? Surely there is an app that records output audio?

Having said that, I have looked on Android Market and not found anything. There are alot of apps that record input audio (i.e. captures the audio from the mic), but nothing that captures audio output that would enable me to record audio streams and telephone calls etc

Surely there can't be such a gap in the android app marketplace?
