First, you have to know where you've put flash_image...is it in ./data/local/tmp/flash_image or is it in /data/local/tmp/flash_image (those would be the same if you're currently in / but different if you're not). Then you need to chmod 0777 /data/local/tmp/flash_image (or chmod 0777 ./data/local/tmp/flash_image if that's where it is).

Well now I'm jealous. You guys got root like 2 days ago and you already have a recovery. Us poor OE users have had root for months now and still have no custom recovery.

Did you come across any issues with the phone acting like it didn't want to boot the recovery? These two phones seem relatively similar in how they are configured. Maybe you learned something in your experience that we can use.

diff OEM's the optimus elite has secureboot thus preventing cwm from being flashed. i havent forgotten about you guys either as slutyman can attest to

from a quick glance around there is no kernel source, ergo no custom kernels

yea doing a rom is easy and you dont need kernel source for that

So, noob question here...when I run ROM Manager and try to do anything it says:

I imagine I don't want to just choose "Install" and let it install one that won't work. What do I do?

Custom recoveries allow you to flash custom roms. With the stock recovery you can only wipe the data from the phone!

Let's hope we got kernel source!!

rom manager support is coming, but it will be rather pointless IMO since you cant download any roms from it.

I see. I'm not experienced with ROM Manager but I thought it promises a variety of functions, not just downloading and installing ROMs, and I was hoping to use some of the other functions.
