Can someone please explain to me how I can watch my webcam at home through my phone.

No, i've been having problems with people trying to break into our building and just want to be able to see my house while i'm away to make sure everything is ok.

1) You connect your IP camera to your home network.

2) Now in order to view this camera's feed from anywhere you need to get a dynamic dns entry for the camera so that it can viewed from any browser from anywhere that has an internet connection (wifi, corporate network, cellular network, etc).

3) You can then get an application such as IP Cam Viewer from the Android market for your Android phone and use it to view your home camera's feed from anywhere that your phone can get an internet connection. You will just need to enter the dynamic dns address into the IP Cam Viewer configuration along with your username and password that you have setup for the IP camera on your network.

If the location you want to check on can be covered by a webcam connected to your PC or laptop you can try the app PhoneMyPC.

If you can buy one more cheap Android phone with camera then my app can help you ( not an advertise, just want to help you solve something). You can put this phone in your home and keep online, then you can monitor your home through its camera by using my app.

Thanks for the help everyone but I found the easiest way to do this was to use My webcam from eyespyfx. Only took five minutes to set up.

If your webcam host machine is running *nix, then one can try "motion".

"It is a daemon that runs a little web server with a live feed from your webcam. It also has the option to save frames or video when motion is detected (hence the name, "motion")."

I recommend looking at PhoneMyPC. Not only is it a fantastic remote control package, but BRAIN DEAD easy to watch you web cam - no dynamic DNS crap -- nothing.

Can't recommend it enough.
