Oh boy now you did it
Calling out nitsuj17 with an app to unroot , good thing its not one click.;)
You know I watched the video and in theory its seems to do what it should, which is undo superuser permission/access.
However, and I am stealing his thunder but as nitsuj17 would say this is truly better done on your computer using adb. Now yes I know not everyone knows how or is comfortable in adb but the truth is the truth it is the better/preferred method.

    adb shell
    su
    mount -t rfs -o remount,rw /dev/block/stl9 /system
    rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
    rm /system/xbin/busybox
    rm /system/xbin/su
    rm /system/bin/su
    rm /system/bin/busybox
    mount -t rfs -o remount,ro /dev/block/stl9 /system
    exit

So yeah in essence its the same as the kids video shows. Bottom Line is root = having superuser access/permission. Getting rid of superuser unroots you. And no for those looking for an easy way out you cannot just uninstall the superuser apk :p or can you? Hmmm, I wonder, if in something like Root Explorer if you go into system/app can you just delete the apk after all? Maybe I will try, maybe not I gave blood today and Im very fatigued now.
Im sure nitsuj17 will come in here in the morning and straighten all this up for us, he's the smart one anyway :D

cant comment for sure as i have yet to try and remove root access on this phone. frisco posted an adb/terminal method a few weeks ago, and DtatchD did point out that our systems default to rw not ro, so some of the mount/remount stuff is redundant. or you might get a mount error.

like i said Frisco had posted an unroot adb method a few weeks ago but i dont remember it being that many steps. in any event i dont think that just ditching superuser will unroot you, as it is possible to have root with the superuser app as far as I know....just generally you wouldnt. but im not 100& on that one

i cant speak as to why wifi wont connect for you...but what is it exactly you *cant* remove with root.

every single thing that verizon put on this phone can and has been taken off successfully. and as for network speed thats all about where you are i suppose...verizon is great for me, but some areas others are better

and what icons are disconnecting your calls?

I too would like to "unroot". I achieved root a few weeks back but haven't done anything else with it.

First question... will updates (like the Market) install when rooted? I still have the old version, but the other two Fascinates in the house have the new one.

And of course... IF VZW every releases an update... will I get it if the phone is rooted?

    Thanks... Merry Christmas!

#1 yes you will still get market update
#2 it depends on what else you have done. Have you installed clockwork?

If you just rooted and did nothing like remove any verizon.files or install.cwr you will receive the verizon ota update and it will take away root

I mean you can unroot using terminal emulator if you don't use adb....but really you might want the ota to just do it for you when it comes

Unless you are returning/selling the phone its no.biggie. :)

    Thanks for the replies.

Shortly after I created the above post, the market was updated (darn) so my first question was answered.

Since we don't really have a rom for the Fascinate, I guess I'll continue to wait for awhile longer.

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas!
