    Replacement Incredibles are new right? Or are they refurbished units???

    I had to get mine replaced and they sent me one with a ding on the camera lens. The dent is on the ring around the glass, on the silver grooved part. It's not TOO noticeable, it's more distinct under a light source. Should I get it replaced again or am I being too anal.

    I'm waiting for my replacement phone (which should come this Friday) and the CSR explicitly stated that the replacement would be a new phone straight from the factory...

    Edit: Was it packaged brand new (did it have all the plastic bags, tape, battery was not in phone, etc.)?

    You are being too anal man, jeez. The only way it'll stay in new condition is if you leave it at home in the box, but what's the point of that? I also had a little ding on that silver ring but whatever, not going to kill you.

    You aren't being to anal, get a new one. This is your phone that is a $500+ phone and you will have for 2 years.

    The phone came inside a small unmarked cardboard box that was cushioned with bubble wrap. It had that plastic screen protector thing on it and thats it, nothing else. You are supposed to use all the other accessories from your previous phone, including the battery.

    I would assume they are generally refurbished. I've never had a piece of electronic equipment I had to exchange under warranty get replaced with a brand new device.

    Exchanging DOA stuff at the point of sale, yes. But I've never received new for anything I had to mail in for a warranty replacement.

    It is definitely a refurbished unit....at least in my experience.

    They aren't refurbished or new. They are renewbished.

    Send that thing back and demand a new one! I cant see getting a refurd after only having the phone for a week. And NO, your not being anal, supposed to get what you pay for!

    Hmm...I was told to send everything back...

    Just got an email from Verizon that my replacement has shipped, should receive it tomorrow, I'll update on whether I got a brand new phone or refurbished one...

    I called trying to get an exchange because of call quality issues. They said they could only replace it with a refurb, but if I went to a VZW store, they would replace it with new (since they don't stock refurbs).

    I got mine, same with the unmarked cardboard box and bubble wrap, but it looks brand new even though it is probably a refurb. How the heck do they even have refurbs of these things already?

    Good luck getting one for a while in store, even if they have any in stock they will try to keep them for new Sales, that's what they did for me.

    When I was talking to the CSR about my replacement, she said that she would look if there were any Incredibles in stock in my area that I could go and replace it. Unfortunately, all the stores were out of stock in my area, so that's when I ordered a new one through the CSR. Basically what they did was they billed me for a new phone, and then credited my account with the difference once they received the defected one...

    Not sure how the whole process usually works, since this is my first time returning anything...

    They should be new within 30 days, anything after that will probably be a refurb.

    Yea, so I think I'm going to exchange it out again. I should be getting a new replacement... not one that has a ding on it already.

    If they won't exchange it, then I'll just return it altogether since I'm still within the trial window. If thats the case, I'm going to wait for the Evo to arrive so that I can make a decision on whether to stay with Verizon or not.

    The phone is only out 3 weeks how could they have Referbs already?? Its not possible. If you are within your 30 days and of course you are then you should not get a refurb anyway but only a retail boxed one. Maybe these are some sort of HTC factory "seconds" new but blemished some way. I can say that when I first got my IPhone 3G on launch day my phone broke about 10 days later, I went to Apple and the replacement handset was also in a small brown service box but I was told that they were indeed brand new just made and packaged as service replacements.

    No, my original one wouldnt pick up phone calls. I would hit the accept button but couldn't hear anything at all. This happened quite often so the rep just decided to issue me a new one.

    The turn around time was quick however. I went in to the store Saturday morning and got the phone via FedEx on Monday afternoon!!!

    I am going to give them a call tonight to try to figure out what the deal is with these replacements, will update everyone when I get some information.

    Yea, it sure looks like it. Mine has a small ding on the ring around the camera lens. It also has a paint defect around the border of the screen... like some dust that got trapped under the paint.

    My husband's was damaged out of the box. Power button would stick. Went to the Verizon store, and they ordered him a new one. When it came, it was in the brown cardboard box. I called them and asked why I received a "like new" device when the one we had was only 2 days old. I was told the rep at the store coded the exchange in wrong, and they would send out a brand new one. So I packed up the refurb and sent it off. Called VZW today to find out if they could give me a tracking number, said it hadn't been shipped and didn't know when it would ship. Lovely.

    This is my husband's first trip around the block with a Smartphone...and he got in the car kicking and screaming. It's going to be hell around here if they don't get that phone here any quicker than the 29th.
