Resetting Camera photo file namesSupport

I Love my HTC Droid Incredible. I have no problems using the camera or moving images where I want them (Facebook, Flickr, or my PC). As I take photos, they are saved as a file name like "IMAG0029.jpg". They sequentially increment. I am fine with that.

What I would like, is, a way to re-set the embedded number to zero; either when the camera is empty (after a download), or manually.

From mclarryjr in another forum, with my thanks:

To reset your camera file name sequence (to IMAG0001.jpg), With camera app NOT running: Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Camera then clear data.

What I'd like to know is how to ADVANCE that number. I've already got pictures up to like 600 then I had to get my phone replaced. And so now ive got IMG0001-1.jpg IMG0002-1.jpg etc. Sure I can sort by modify time, but that's a hokey workaround. Anybody know how to do this? Thanks.

I would like to find an answer to this also.
I drop all my camera photos in one folder on my computer and since I've replaced my phone, it's all jacked up.
I've been looking and finding nothing.
