Well as expected, I received my Seidio Innocase II Surface Combo for the Sprint Hero today and I thought I'd share my impressions and some photos with you. I'll compare it to the Body Glove Rubberized Hard Case that I purchased from the Sprint store when I bought my Hero.

As the photos will show, the Innocase adds almost no bulk to the phone. It's molded out of a thin hard plastic material with an outer surface which isn't slippery but isn't rubbery feeling either. The material is less than half the thickness of the Body Glove case and it fits the phone like a coat of paint.

The Innocase splits in half quite differently than the Body Glove case and one of my first concerns was how hard it would be to get the case off to get at the battery and SD card. Thankfully, a light press on the locking tab is all it takes and the two case halves slide right apart. That said, the two halves of the case fit the phone so well that the locking tab was probably unnecessary, but it's nice to have it there anyway.

I bought the Combo so I also got the Spring Clip Holster which is made to fit the Hero with the Innocase installed. Like the Innocase, the form and fit is superb. The spring clip can easily be locked so that the phone can't be removed, but the clip in it's unlocked condition holds the phone quite securely.

The belt clip can be rotated so the phone can be worn both vertically and horizontally on both the right and left side. As you rotate the clip, it clicks through several detents so the phone can also be worn at several angles between vertical and horizontal as well. In the short time that I've had it, I've favored wearing it on my right side at a 45

I like mine, I did the same combo you did. I love having a carry holster, and I feel that the Seidio makes the best one out yet. I highly recommend it!

Can you show us the front of the Hero with the Innocase on it?

Thanks for the review. I had been wondering about that combo and now I have more information. I am holding out for the aluminium case from pdair.

    Yes, thanks for the review.

While I just bought a cheapie belt holster off ebay, I've had my eye on this a few days and was genuinely curious.

Excellent comments PGR. I really like my hero and want to get a good case and this looks like what I'm looking for. Where did you get your case from?

You cannot beat their products. I just got mine in today. I bought all my cases for my Blackberry from them. Great product and service!

I read somewhere that the body glove case protected well against a fall. Not that I'm asking you to drop your phone, but does anyone have experience with the Seido protecting well from falls? I'm thinking a good case combined with the extra Best Buy insurance might be the way to go for my husband's phone...

I don't see it in the pictures so I want to just confirm this. The Innocase does not have a belt clip to be used separate from the Holster. Is this correct? I would love to get the innocase but I would prefer a belt clip to the holster.

How is the track ball situation? Has it caused any issues yet?

Not at all. Everything is working just peachy and I use the heck out of the trackball. It may be one of my favorite features of the phone.

    Pete

    Addendum:
The Seidio holster holds the phone face-in and it has a velvet-like fabric on the surface which the screen and buttons rest against. I just carefully examined that fabric where the ball rests against it when the phone is in the holster and I can find no visible sign. None! That leads me to believe that the ball is not being smashed into the holster. It's undoubtedly making contact, but now I don't believe that it's compressing the ball spring to the extent of it's travel.

Kind of related but is the Bodyglove case they sell at Sprint a hard case or a silicone case?

^^ yes, I have the same question about the body glove, and does it make the phone too bulky? from the pictures it seem like it can protect the phone if it falls more than the seidio, or am I wrong?

Thanks again for the update, I already told the wife that I want a Seidio case for Christmas ;)

The Body Glove case in the pictures (the one Sprint sells) is a hard case with a rubberized outer surface. It would probably offer a little more protection from drops, but the one I saw hit the ground popped open and the phone went flying.

Describing bulkiness is such an objective thing, so bulky to me might not be bulky to you. But I didn't like my phone with the Body Glove case on it. It was more the size of one of the "freebie" phones with a slide-out keyboard and the rubberized exterior made it hard to get out of a pocket or case. I carried my phone in the Body Glove for about 2 days before I ditched the case and carried the phone bare until I got the Innocase.

But the innocase doesn't strike me as bulky at all. The phone almost feels and looks the same size with the case on as off but once again, that's my opinion.

But wait! I have a digital caliper! :D

Phone in Body Glove = 4.643" tall, 2.405" wide, 0.804" thick.
Phone in Innocase = 4.560" tall, 2.328" wide, 0.640" thick.
    Bare phone = 4.465" tall, 2.225" wide, 0.556" thick.

And there you have it. Empirical data instead of objective observation. :) Perhaps the most notable fact is the phone is almost a full quarter inch thicker in the Body Glove than bare, and that's what it felt like in my pocket and hand.

i really want the case and holster... but its a bit on the pricey side..i wouldnt mind if i can get a few bux off with the seidio discount codes? ive checked everywhere and havnt found one that works as of today... the only one that is suppose to still be "valid" is the code thank10 or whatever for thanksgiving..but that did not work either...it was probably for a certain case ..primarily the snap i think

I'm in the same boat. Does anyone have a valid coupon code for Seidio?

Looks nice. Too pricey though for a phone case. Might consider it for about 1/2 the price.
