ok sorry i have the process wrong. you need to use the PC36IMG file that is linked in the guide. this will downgrade your phone to froyo and then you can full root your phone with unrevoked.

the PC36IMG file will give you your new hboot and no watermark

Yep sounds like you are 1/3 done. Next would be captins hboot roll back to 2.10. and froyo Then unrevolked to get s off.

ok i'm just confused on where you are at in the guide. i would follow the steps exactly before trying things. that is a good way of messing your phone up. but it is your phone so.......

i know what you are saying its cool but i am stuck on step 9 and yes the files are extracted onto sd card not in a file

ok well it might have taken the first time you tried it. what did it say the first time around? did your screen look like what the captain has shown?
  12. stvmtz27

    stvmtz27 Active Member

yup same thing no such file or directory and i copied and pasted. Now if i restore my nandroid to a android version 2.3.3 can i then run that pc36img file to get the hboot changed and watermark off?

    ocnbrze DON'T PANIC!!!!!!!!! Moderator

ok lets try this then lets proceed on to the next step and install the froyo PC36IMG file which is the next step, step 11. once you have downgraded to froyo then you should be able to get unrevoked to root your phone.

I just unrooted my phone so I could take it into get fixed, and the tech did the update for me, thanks a bunch! So that's why I'm here.

Anyway, I had the toughest time with the PC36IMG file to unroot because I was using an old 2gig micro sd card and read that it must be a sdhc card for it to work, threw it on my 16gig and worked right away.

That might be your problem above. But I barely have any idea what I'm talking about.

How are you extracting the zip files? Are you doing it on the computer, with the phone connected in disk drive mode, or are you doing it some other way? What program are you using to extract the files? It really shouldn't be giving you this much trouble. In reality you don't need to be NAND unlocked anyway. Was there a particular reason you wanted to be?

are you making sure that you are in the sdk tools folder when you are entering the command? or in fastboot?

and you said that the screen looks different then what the captain has posted. do you remember what was different? also what path does the prompt in the command window gives you.

and maybe try posting a screen shot.

Did you verify the mean of the downloaded zip file, to make sure it downloaded okay? I'll check the file in the post and make sure it's okay.

EDIT: I just downloaded it directly to my phone, and the file extracted fine. I'm not sure why a few people are having issues with it.

EDIT 2: Try the file attached to this post and see if it makes any difference.
