    http://androidforums.com/droid-roms/197288-rom-charity-smoked-glass-themed-v9-0-froyo-2-2-1-built-source-brand-spankin-new.html

We'll call this version 8.4 - It's based on FRG22D, built from source!

Download link: sg84-update.zip (WiFi error is fixed)

    UPDATE.ZIP File. See instructions below.

    Minor cosmetic improvements

Installation file is now in update.zip format; compatible with both SPRecovery & Clockworkmod. Installation is also much simpler now.

I've pretty much ported the smoked glass theme we all have come to know and love and packaged it into a pretty awesome FRG22D Based Froyo ROM. This is an update to my original posting found here:
    http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-mods/4342-rom-smoked-glass-charity-themed-rom-frg22d-version-7-01-all-working.html

I don't think asking for personal donations is in line with the ideas behind open source software. Thus, I have decided to collect donation money for charity.

    Please Donate, read below...

ALL (100%) of the money will go to NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION: Oil Disaster Recovery. I will be fully transparent in this process and will show any donors proof of the organization's receipt. I know this is a new idea, I hope it catches on. Please check out the organization at:

    Help Our Gulf Parks

Send donations directly by clicking the link above, or PM me for my PayPal address.

So far I have gotten excellent feedback on the ROM.

    Here's some info on it:
ChevyNo1's 1100Mhz Low Voltage Kernell (Fast boot time, Improved Battery life, Great performance)
Built from AOSP source, Based on FRG22D, newest available release
    Deodex'd, Zipaligned, & Fully Optimized!
    Fully enabled & working apps2sd
    Root Access w/ SuperUser 2.3.6
    Busybox Installed & Working
All Ads Blocked! Apps & Browser
Smoked Glass Widgets (Credit to AdamZ)
    Minimum Brightness Hack
    Higher quality video recording
    HTC Toolbar / Toolbar Icons
White Clock / All Ongoing Notifications Fixed (Music, Phone, etc)
Big library of system sounds (All 2.0, 2.1, & 2.2)
    Droid X Ringtones
    Green Progress Bar
    Long WiFi Scan (Battery Saver)
    Ringer Delay Fix
    I removed Visual Voicemail & Amazon MP3 from /system/apps.
Includes Motoroi File Manager, Notes Widget, Slideshow widget, and World Clock widget
Includes the latest version of Google Maps (4.5)
MMS app from CyanogenMod (more customizable, including black background)
Allows any type of file to be downloaded
In this release, I decided to leave Email & Car Home 2.2. If you want to remove it (or any other /system application) use Titanium Backup - free in market.
Wired/Wireless Tether Tested & Working (no longer included)
I highly recommend using Launcher Pro, It's free in the market. Much smoother than the stock Launcher....

    Download link: sg84-update.zip

    Instructions...

    Backing up...
Google saves your contacts, programs, settings, and bookmarks on the cloud.
You can double-back up program with Titanium backup, which will also backup application settings
You can back up text messages with a market app called "SMS Backup & Restore".

File is in the UPDATE.ZIP format.

    Clockworkmod
Place the file you downloaded anywhere on the SD Card. Easiest place would be the root directory.
Chose "Install zip from sdcard" from the main menu
    Select "Chose zip from sdcard"
Browse to the file (SG701-update.zip) and select it. Confirm the install, let it do it's magic.
    Reboot.

    SPRecovery
Rename the file you downloaded to update.zip and place it in the root of the SD Card.
Select Install from the main menu
    Select Allow update.zip Installation
    Select Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
    Reboot.

If you are running the most recent version of my ROM, you may not need to wipe data/cache (factory reset). It's never a bad idea though. If you bootloop, that is the reason.

    Here's a few quick screenshots:

ROM is very nice. Snappy(fast) as usual for your ROMs. Still was hoping for a battery percentage in the battery icon, or possibly just taking out the battery icon and putting the percentage number in its place. But other than that it is running really good. Took about 24 hours to get acclimated to the phone it seemed like. Was a little buggy when I first installed it but it is running smoothly now. Good work. And BTW, really digging the lockscreen music controls!!

Is the google calendar widget included in the smoked glass style or is it still blue and white? ;)

Whats the difference between the file that was listed here last night, and this one that is up now? I have sg8-update.zip installed on my phone, and now sg81-update.zip is listed. Size of files are different too. Whats the difference?

Still blue and white. I'll try and get to it eventually. In the meantime, check out the launcher pro plus Widgets. You may like them

I love this ROM/theme. It has been 100% stable, feels faster than UD8 that I was on previously, and has become my new ROM of choice.

I feel like you built it specifically for me. I was reading all of your tweaks, and essentially they are all the ones I want, and none of the extra BS I don't need.

I did have to install spare parts to speed up my transitions, but otherwise it was pretty much set it and forget it (I did drop the kernel to 1.0ghz ulv).

Terrific ROM! Best battery life of any froyo ROM I've tried (using consistent kernel across all ROMs tested). I'd like to know the difference between 8, 81, 82, 83, etc. Each time I check this thread, it seems there's been some update, but I'm not clear what's being updated each time. Whatever it is, it's working well. Great job! Keep up the good work.

nevermind got ti to work through browser, trying now, so far installation went well no hiccups on cache/data wipe or actual rom installation. Didnt need to *228 once all set which is nice. currently am reinstalling app/system data through TIBU. will edit with more info once thats set.

Don't like that the most commonly used scripts aren't included with this ROM like sysro, sysrw, etc... makes having to remove apps that much harder..

    **UPDATE**
After getting Root Explorer, I was able to remove some needless apps (corpcal, email, etc.) and get LauncherPro loaded up. I also flashed my trust Chevy 1Ghz ULV kernel. I don't say this lightly, but this is easily the FASTEST ROM I've used to date. I mean, it is ridiculously quick! Granted, I've used other ROMs before that were fast, but this is by far the fastest. I like some of the customizations (naming shortcuts, rotary lock, etc.), but speed is my biggest thing and this ROM has it. Awesome job!

    Thank you!

It's called "Weather and Toggle Widget" - it's 1.99 in the market.

The icon is the "small" weather widget with transparent background.

    Enjoy the ROM!

    You start from scratch basically.

The ROM you were running before had files that conflict with mine.

    Your apps will automatically restore.

You can backup texts (if you care) with an app called SMS backup and restore.

You can backup your sop's setting and data with a program called titanium backup.

Both are free in the market...enjoy!

Pm me if you have more questions or need more detailed instructions.

Am I correct in assuming this is compatible with Bugless Beast v 0.5?
