Sort of ironic that rapidshare is anything but rapid! Looking forward to giving this a look, eventually...

EDIT: buh... Download unsuccessful. Trying again.

First time posting but I've been lurking these forums nearly every day so just wanted to say thanks for this ROM, by far my favorite :) although I'm coming from the Triumph and the whole flash process is a little more difficult here, so I've just had a few questions:

Is the VDM crashing that big of a deal? What does it do?
How do you flash the boot image first in 4EXT? I can only do zips (does that really need to be flashed first?)
For anyone who uses profiles on OC apps, what do you set them to? Just trying to maximize my battery life the best I can. Also, which governor is most effective for that?

    Welcome ^_^

VDM crashing isn't that big of a deal. I havn't really seen any issues that it has caused.

If you have S-OFF then you don't need to flash the boot.img separately (using fastboot after flashing the rom). If you do though, check this out http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-a...ing-evo-v-4g-roms-kernels-using-fastboot.html. I highly recommend getting S-OFF, as it's really useful and saves a lot of time in the long run.
4EXT app has an option to flash the boot.img automatically though for people with S-ON. It should be in settings -> recovery -> S-ON: 4EXT SmartFlash.

I don't really use any profiles in SetCPU, I just really let it do it's own thing. With all the battery mods and scripts I have running in this ROM, the battery life is pretty efficient ^_^

You flash kernels (boot.img) after you flash a rom. If you do it before, the rom will just overwrite that kernel.

You're better off downloading it on a computer.

Yeah, sorry about rapidshare everyone >.<
I still can't login to my goo.im ftp server it seems...It would literally be like, a minute and I could transfer the rom from my dropbox over to it...T_T

Wish there was a faster way. Looking at 3 hours to download right now on my computer (yes my internet is slow).

Did u check with chad about publishing his kernel publicly?
  13. wigginst

    wigginst Well-Known Member

I doubt he will let this go out public. But it is really not that hard to register with him and be able to get the kernel.

    xthedakmanx Well-Known Member

Well, his kernel doesn't say that it is a private release anymore in the title, he changed it to release, so I think it's fine. But just to make sure, I'll ask ^_^ If he has any problems at all, I'll gladly remove his kernel from the rom.

Gah, download speeds are so slow, but this is the highest performing ROM I've yet seen for this phone. I can't wait!

So this has the deletions recommended in the kernel thread already taken care of?

Cool. So what do those do? Been using the kernel in harmonia without deleting them and haven't noticed me missing anything.

Basically the kernel just gives the phone "the power" to overclock and such. The files that are already there have limited max clocks and such.

Does anyone want to put up a mirror for the beta rom? Im pulling about 30 KB/S on rapidshare.

So am I missing out on the real power of the kernel right now? I have it set to lag free at the moment.

Btw looking forward to trying your rom if I ever finish downloading it....
