So I flashed this ROM last night & so far I'm lovin' it! It really is how the phone should have arrived in the first place. :)

One quirk that I will note & y'all can tell me if any of you are experiencing this too- when I power down the phone and then again on powering up, I get a notification ringtone just once each time. Does it have something to do with unmounting/mounting the SD card (seems to coincide somewhat with the notification popping up in the bar as I shut down/boot up), and if so, is there anything that can be done to silence it? I was so happy to find the instructions to silence the awful VM boot animation (did it when I first got the phone & rooted but forgot how) and would prefer a completely silent reboot if possible.

Also- think that either the Umph or fOCK Kernels could be flashed over this to achieve overclock?

Lot's O' thanks again to BSydz for a fantastic ROM!

It is the sdcard being (un)mounted. You could put the phone in silent mode before power down.

Thanks mozzwald- I figured that might be what's going on.

It's not a huge deal- I'm just a little crazy about details sometimes. Maybe someone else will have a suggestion for a software fix/workaround. Haf the time when I reboot the phone in silent mode, I forget to unsilence it when it comes back on & end up missing calls/messages. Doh! ;)

Been using this ROM for a couple of days now. I love it. My favorite so far (I have tried, TickerGuy CM7, my own custom built CM7, G60 CM7, Sharp Froyo, and now this one.

I feel like it is all the niceness of Sharp Froyo (my favorite before this one) without the parts I didn't like (Sharp Launcher, Sharp Camera).

I would take the beta tag off. I can't find any stability differences between this and Sharp (granted, I've only been running a few days so far). GPS is great, speed is great, about my only complaint would be that battery life is slightly worse than it was on G60 CM7 or the CM7 I built a while back, but it could also just be that my battery is starting to get more worn out or I installed something new that is draining the battery.

Anyway, thanks so much for the awesome ROM and keep up the good work!

    Hey BSydz,

I'm having trouble applying the voicemail fix. After making the changes to com.android.phone_preferences.xml and rebooting I noticed that the /data/data/com.android.phone/shared_prefs reverted back to what it was originally. I also noticed that all partitions are mounted as rw by default but no changes will stick. Any suggestions? I was able to apply the voicemail fix to your sharp rom, which by the way was awesome, but I can't get it to work on the u9000 rom. Please help.

You need to make sure that you delete the com.android.phone_preferences.xml.bak file, and also make sure the changes stuck in the file before you reboot. If you don't reboot it will stay *86 in the notification but it will still dial your number, from what I've seen messing around. I would suggest retrying and double check everything. I haven't tested it but looking at the files, you should be able to use the file from the Sharp ROM if you backed it up. Hope this helps.

Thanks BSydz for the quick response. The file is changed prior to rebooting because after saving the file I closed it and then reopened it and changes were present but upon rebooting the original file is somehow restored. This doesn't happen with the sharp rom, but I'll try again. And thanks again for your awesome roms. Your gps fix is what kept me from ditching this phone. I'll donate soon.

Pure genius. Bsydz...you might be the only hope to get fully fuctioning gb and ics roms...since it seems most devs dumped all work to hop on evo 4g...thanks a lot...i will test any and all projects you need help on...im no dev but i make a good test monkey...keep up the awesome work!

Thank you for the kind words.

I just finished building my first custom kernel for this and the Sharp ROM, I just have to put it in the boot.img and test it out. I have successfully built a few other kernels for GB but haven't gotten around to even testing them cause they need more than just a kernel. Now I just have to figure out how to build a custom recovery for the 2.6.35 kernel before I can even see if it will work on our phone. I may just need some testers soon, and if I do I'll give you a shout.

There are still devs working on getting GB and ICS on our phone, just not a stock GB or ICS. The devs that have left, have left a legacy for us to be able to work off of, and they deserve as much credit as anybody else. I have a few ideas for the ICS camera but, one thing at a time. I get distracted and go for the gusto when I figure something out, spent all day yesterday after I finally got a kernel to build, trying to build 2.6.35, when I should've been working on this kernel so I could actually test it. If we keep the community together, then over time it will all come together.

    Thank you again.

Just updated the second post with some build.props, let me know what you think.

If i wanted to just flash the stock U9000 kernel in the future without reflashing the entire ROM, could I modify the updater-script file to just install the kernel? If so, what lines would I need to keep? I know for sure I'd need the following:

    package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p5")

    Is that it?

Basically, you could do that. I just finished putting together my custom kernels for both ROMs and have updated the second posts with the original kernels. So you can just snag it from there.

I just put up the link for my custom kernel in the second post. It is not as refined as some of the kernels for the Triumph but it is a start. Everybody testing along with myself have seen no ill effects, so I am releasing it. It does not fix tether as I hoped it would but there is a link to a script below that should fix tether.

I haven't got enough feedback to know if this script will work on the original kernel or not, so let me know how it goes. Also the 3G MTU will reset on reboot from what I have seen, just rerun the script.

Here is the script for anybody that wants to try this out. Just open it in root explorer and select execute. It doesn't seem to work from the SD card, I put it in system/etc/init.d folder and it worked.

So with your new kernel knowlege am guessing you could make a kernel for a slightly modifed stock gingerbread from a x6 variant and port it to our triumph?

    BSydz Well-Known Member Developer

I actually built 2 already, before I built this. Well, made it through the build process. I have a 2.6.35 kernel that I built but I haven't tested it cause I am pretty sure I have to make a recovery for it to work. So, now to learn how to build a custom recovery. I got sidetracked building CM10. Spent most of today working out errors to get it to build, and trying to get an ICS kernel to build.

Yes that is the only phone I have. I figure it will give me some good practice at figuring out errors while working with source code. My only source code knowledge is a few things I read a couple years ago, but got busy and never pursued them. I didn't go to school for this stuff at all, never even had a computer class in school, l kinda only went to HS for about 5 months. KIDS, STAY IN SCHOOL!!! I did go to college when I was 17 though, for a couple years. Anyway, it's something that I've been wanting to do, and when I jacked up my phone it kinda led me down this road. Once I find something I want to figure out, it kinda eats at me. Hopefully I can help on CM10, but right now I'm just figuring it out myself.

Awesome. Im guessing cm10 is jelly bean source code?

I am now only using this rom its better than sharp rom because it has a more stock feel to it and no extra apps besides facebook and twitter!

I flashed the 2.3 sharp build prop you posted for this rom but dont see any advantages to that... the play store still does not let me use apps that are only compatiable with 2.3+ whats the purpose of those build.props? I know im a noob hah

I put the Sharp 2.3.5 build.prop up as an experiment, try the thunder.prop to see if that helps. I noticed on the Sharp ROM that it cleared up a few issues with the play store cause Gapps were not included, so Sharp 2.2.2 is not a registered google device.
