Root ROM questions, installs and downloads

1. Is 0.99.3b required for all roms, or is 2b sufficient?
2. Is WinRar needed for downloading and unzipping files, and if so, what is it?
3. Where is everyone downloading roms from?
4. What is the best/ most stable/ widely used rom?

I'm currently rooted, and ready to install some roms. I downloaded one, but it had a corrupt file and couldn't be used (youtube link from DroidReview). Help?

1. I think 2b is sufficient. I use 3b, but haven't read much difference.
2. Update.zip files do NOT get extracted, but nandroid files do. WinRAR is important for that.

4. Up to you. Bugless Beast is very popular and is a good choice for newbies. I use it with great satisfaction.

How do I know which one to use, 32 or 64?

Is your pc 32bit or 64bit? Try each of them and see which one works.

7zip is perfect for noobs like me. Thanks for the help guys. I'm running bugelss beast 0.8.
