    We'll call this version 7.01 - It's based on FRG22D

    Download Link: sg701-update.zip

    UPDATE.ZIP File. See instructions below.

    v7.01 - Changelog from 6.0
    New System Base FRG22D
    Fully Deodexed, Optimized, and Zipaligned
    Working Version of SuperUser
Newest Version of Google Search Widget (affects search system-wide)
Newest Version of Google Voice Search

Restored Twitter (If you want to delete, Use Titanium Backup)
Removed Chrome2Phone (Now available on Market)
Increased Wifi Scan interval (helps battery life)
    More Ads blocked

Installation file is now in update.zip format; compatible with both SPRecovery & Clockworkmod. Installation is also much simpler now.

I've pretty much ported the smoked glass theme we all have come to know and love and packaged it into a pretty awesome FRG22D Based Froyo ROM. This is an update to my original posting found here:
[ROM] Smoked Glass ----CHARITY---- Themed Rom FRG22 Version 6.0 ! !

I don't think asking for personal donations is in line with the ideas behind open source software. Thus, I have decided to collect donation money for charity.

    Please Donate, read below...

ALL (100%) of the money will go to NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION: Oil Disaster Recovery. I will be fully transparent in this process and will show any donors proof of the organization's receipt. I know this is a new idea, I hope it catches on. Please check out the organization at:

Send donations directly by clicking the link above, or PM me for my PayPal address.

So far I have gotten excellent feedback on the ROM.

    Here's some info on it:

I highly recommend using Launcher Pro, It's free in the market. Much smoother than the stock Launcher....

    Download Link: sg701-update.zip

    Instructions...

    Backing up...
Google saves your contacts, programs, settings, and bookmarks on the cloud.
You can double-back up program with Titanium backup, which will also backup application settings
You can back up text messages with a market app called "SMS Backup & Restore".

File is in the UPDATE.ZIP format.

    Clockworkmod
Place the file you downloaded anywhere on the SD Card. Easiest place would be the root directory.
Chose "Install zip from sdcard" from the main menu
    Select "Chose zip from sdcard"
Browse to the file (SG701-update.zip) and select it. Confirm the install, let it do it's magic.
    Reboot.

    SPRecovery
Rename the file you downloaded to update.zip and place it in the root of the SD Card.
Select Install from the main menu
    Select Allow update.zip Installation
    Select Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
    Reboot.

If you are running the most recent version of my ROM, you may not need to wipe data/cache (factory reset). It's never a bad idea though. If you bootloop, that is the reason.

    Here's a few quick screenshots:

After installing 7.01 almost any app that has anything to do with root force closes...super user, ROM manager, etc.

P.S. It seems something is wrong with super user app...the ninja is there and I have been doing updates following the last several versions with no problems until 7.0 (lost root) and now this problem with 7.01 Any
    suggestions?

IF YOU ARE STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH ROOT (THE SUPERUSER APP) THERE ARE TWO SOLUTIONS:

INSTALL THIS UPDATE.ZIP FORMAT FILE: http://bit.ly/su234ef
    --OR--
    WIPE DATA/CACHE BEFORE INSTALL

PLEASE PLEASE REPORT ANY ISSUES WITH SUPERUSER / ROOT ACCESS

Sorry about that. For the 100+ people who downloaded 7.0 before i pulled it, this will be an issue. I posted the solution above. Hope this helps, let me know if all goes well.

just got this a few hours ago. it's great, except for: the brightness issues. is there a fix for this? you posted a stock brightness.zip file, but i don't know how to install it. i don't know what "ADB" is, or how to "push" things to a certain folder.

basically my phone is just way too dim most of the time, and then it will randomly get really bright. i can't see things very well sometimes.

    otherwise though, great job!

You need to download the android Sdk for your os

    unzip the file

inside the file is a folder called tools

copy and paste the two files in the stock brightness.zip file into this folder
there should be a framework-res.apk and services.jar file in this folder now

    open a command prompt

navigate to the "tools" folder i mentioned above

plug your phone into the computer

in teh phone settings, go into application settings and make sure debugging mode is on

reboot your phone into recovery (turn off, then hold X button and power button)

if you have sprecovery, find the option that says mount /system
if you have clockworkmod, go to partitions menu, then mount /system

type the following commands into the prompt

    adb push services.jar /system/framework/services.jar
    adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk

this should get you up and running, PM me if you need more help

Recently rooted my Droid. Everything went well especially considering this was my first attempt at rooting. I have noticed one issue after installing SG theme. Some notifications (Weather Bug is an example) are shown with black text which is very hard to read on the gray background in the notifications window. Is there any way to control the text color or lighten the background?

that program controls the color of the notification. the only way to get around that is to manually edit the program. what other programs are you having the problem with? i can possibly give you instructions on how to do it

Is there any way to skin the Facebook widget so it matches the Smoked Glass theme? Then my widgets would all be in perfect visual synch. :)

PLEASE HELP! I've never been able to find a working smoked glass rom for 2.2 frg22d and now that i have guess what.. doesnt work.

Ive tried both clockworks and sp recovery and both times when i boot it freezes and restarts. What can i do?

I downloaded (sg701-update.zip) and renamed it update.zip then chose install -> allow update.zip installation -> install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated) and it installs and says complete i reboot and it freezes.

I choose install rom in clockworks it loads the update.zip says it completes and does the same thing...

Ive tried deleting cache (except not all my data, id rather not deal with that)

    Im clueless..
