I've got the htc incredible and I'm very familiar with roms and rooting and such on it using my mac. My girlfriend has the Sprint Hero, and she decided she wants me to root it for her and adfree it. With the incredible I just needed unrevoked and bam, it was rooted. How can I go about doing the same on her hero with my mac? Does unrevoked have a one click root method like they do for the incredible? Thanks for the help everyone.

1st off - Flogging molly is bad ass.

Second - No need to use the PC - There are one click apps out there for the hero -
    What version is she running?
If you can find Universal Androot - it is good for V - 1.5- 2.1 update 1
After that Z4Root is in the market place - download the app - Click Root.
    Done.

She's running stock 2.1 update 1 I believe. She'll be over here in about 20 minutes, so I'll give your methods a try and report back. Thanks for the quick help.

I agree about Flogging Molly, obviously lol.

    Cool - universalandroot ????

Some of this is in Chinese.....but it will work - as long as she hasn't done last two updates.
IF she has....z4root will work (will work on 2.1 as well) just not as slick.

I prefer this one from XDA, but you may need to register to view, MCat and I have both used this one, I myself have used V 1.6.1, works great fast and easy, again this is only good up to the .5 build I believe, if not you will need Z4Root

    UNIVERSAL ANDROOT

For some reason her phone won't download ANYTHING from the market via 3g or wifi, so I can't even start to root it lol. I get the error "Download Unsuccessful". Market is working for me on Verizon, so no idea.

I know unrevoked only works with .5, so.... you may have to wait until you can download from the market, otherwise you could try the universal androot that DonB posted

I'm not familiar with universal androot, so I'm not sure. But with unrevoked, I downloaded it, ran it and I was rooted. Then download rom manager and flash clockworkmod recovery. Then make a nandroid of your stock rom

Ok, I pressed the big start button on the unrevoked app, it said done, but super user app wasn't in the app drawer, I'm restarting now to see what happens. How much of a contortionist do I have to be to access hboot on this phone? Lol. Which buttons do I press and hold?
