Root Root the Official Metropcs 2.3.6

Here's a little Tut on how to root the Official MetroPcs 2.3.6 Update


[You can find the Update here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCH-R720ZAAMTR (GO TO SUPPORT> DOWNLOADS, Upgrade (Software) (ver.FF18))]

1. Download and install super user :http://www.4shared.com/android/n_xPl4mQ/Superuser.html?

2. Flash cmw using odin: http://androidforums.com/admire-all...-recovery-not-compatible-rom-manager-yet.html


3. Install su through cwm: link provided.


4. Restart phone

5. Open super user and update binary (click update anyway, to officially break-in the su)

6. ENJOY!!!!]

7. DO NOT UPDATE SUPERUSER.apk IN THE PLAY STORE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use 7 (for now) But there is a problem....The phone IS rooted but it doesnt see it as rooted... Superuser sees it rooted with 3.1.1 su but will not update it. Im lookin in to it, but for now Enjoy

For right now, you have to do things thru cmw...Ive already made a nandroid back up and i installed the custom build.prop

It is under construction, still sorry.. Im trying to make it compatable with 2.3.6 I flashed it befor (without editing it) and it semi-bricked my phone lol, i just had to revert back and start over

Before you root 2.3.6 install this super user
Superuser.apk - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

then reboot

now once reboot just flash your zip and update binary code with su and it should restart your phone and its done

That was my problem!!!! i didnt update superuser.apk

No don't update the super user update the binary codes! The new update for superuser don't work with our phones no more so use the one I put on 4shared

Hmm I think you were suppose to let it flly charge before updae

Re do all the steps

re flash 2.3.6 update you can find it at metropcs.com look for samsung admire go to the bottom and hit software update now download it

Once download it open it and follow the instructions

Once fully bootes

Download the files needed

install the super user in the post

Once download flash cwm threw odin

And install his zip

Now fully booted again and open super user go to prefrence and update su binary

sorry it was actually a quicker fix than expected just removed the battery and the phone recognized it again. thanks for the very quick reply though i feel the love.

yea I use my phone for pretty much everything and my parents told me if I ever break it they wont help me get a new phone. being unemployed sucks

true but its always a hassle and having to wait a week where i go sucks so the least damage i can do the better. yea I have 3 job applications in just gotta wait and hope
