Is there a way that i can reset my phone so that verizon won't be able to tell if its rooted? will a simple factory reset do that?

Hello and welcome to the forums redhat16 - thanks for joining! :)

A factory reset will only wipe all user data, it will not unroot the phone. Why do you need to unroot? Is it for a warranty claim? If the phone has a hardware fault, then the fact that it is rooted shouldn't matter.

I am not familiar with your phone, but have found this - it may be worth waiting for one of the Droid X users to chime in with some advice :)
