Root rooting a galaxy that has gingerbread

im looking at rooting my galaxy s as i want my phone to look like some of thesehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761517, however, i flashed gingerbread onto it a couple of weeks ago and i cant find any threads on rooting phones that already have gingerbread on them.. how would i go about rooting this? should i put the official version of froyo back on and go from there? or is there a way around this?

if i flashed gingerbread onto my phone, is that the same as rooting it? if not how should i go about rooting it seeings as i have gingerbread and i cant find any rooting guides for GB.
