Other than voiding your warranty or possibly bricking your phone, which is pretty hard to, I don't think there are any disadvantages to be quite frank.

I've a HTC desire, updated to Android 2.2 recently. I am very concerned to know, if I should "ROOT", in order to:

    a) Have "FROYO" ?! (is same as And. 2.2 ?)
    b) Access to market.place (as I don't, right now !)
    c) Could "Move to SD" my App.'s ? (as I see it gray, in application manager)

In other words, I searched and find many discussions about rooting, and how rooting, but still really don't know if I should better do so, or not.
Please advice clearly, as I want to know realt meaning of rooting as well.
    Thanks a lot in advance,
