I have a Motorola Triumph that I would like to root. I have read the sticky threads related to rooting, but I don't understand what to do. I'm confused by the different methods, I don't understand how they differ from one another, so I can't determine which would best suit my needs. Questions: How should I root my phone? What do these terms mean? busybox recovery port over CWM cyanogen mod Q: "Why do you want to root your phone if you don't even know what you're doing?" A: I want to be able to use programs that require rooting. I have used Ubuntu for about four years, and have gained some rudimentary knowledge of programming; I think I'm capable of following the instructions, and determining whether or not things are going properly. My Optimus V got stolen last week, and that's why I am the owner of a new Triumph (my carrier is Virgin Mobile). I was interested to download WheresMyDroid or another program designed to help me find it if it is stolen. I'm also having problems with battery life (not having installed any new programs since I bought my Triumph this week) so I'm interested to use JuiceDefender or similar. If there any better programs than WheresMyDroid and JuiceDefender, please let me know. Obviously, I am a complete n00b at this but I'd really like to get educated and get to work on this. Thanks for any help.
