Root Rooting using B2Basiks method... maybe bricked?

Never neglect a wipe ... And just a question you have a GSM HTC HERO right? (NO SPRINT!)
Can you go to your recovery? Startup the phone with the home and endcall buttons pressed.

If you can get into the recovery, the phone shouldnt be bricked.

Download the latest ROM 1.5 + newest kernel (put it on your SD) and go recovery wipe the first 3 things on the list I think depends on your recovery (factory/data, dalvik and ext). Flash rom, flash kernel and wait 20 mins if it boots up. Dont go for a 768 kernel :p . take something nice and stable like 614.

He says he has a Telus Hero in another post so not to worry there.

It's pretty much impossible to brick your phone by flashing firmware (unless you flash Sprint/CDMA firmware on a GSM phone like yours. Radios and SPLs are the ones that can brick it.

nedamdam is right, download the Froyd version 1.5 ROM.zip and the kernel. Do a full wipe (as nedamdam explained) and then flash the rom, then the kernel. Without any booting or wipes in between.

Any kernel at 690 or lower should be fine.
