Hi all, Theres not much I'm missing from stock android but wi-fi tethering would be really nice. Plus I would like to still be able to receive OTA updates that google offers.

Can you root the phone and keep the stock ROM? If yes will the stock ROM still update? Is there a wi-fi tether app that doesn't require something like Cyanogen?

If you are not going to load a Custom ROM, I wouldn't bother rooting.

There is an app called PDANet on the market, that will help you to tether (load it on your phone and also it loads eventually on your laptop when you connect your phone).

I didn't like it though.......plus, not as easy as just hitting an option with Cyanogen's ROM.
