Now that I'm S-OFF, I'm wondering it would be worth installing a permanent custom recovery? When S-ON, I bought into scotty's temp recovery scenario, but now that I can flash ROMs/kernels from the phone itself it seems like a permanent recovery might be the way to go.

Is that true, or does temporary still have value?

I don't see why you wouldn't want to. If you are someone who doesn't flash anything or you just want to test something to make sure it works with your phone, then booting the recovery is good for that. If you are going to be flashing roms, etc., I don't see how you could live without flashing a recovery to your phone. It's so nice being able to do everything right on your phone and not having to rely on computer access. Plus you can make backups on the fly etc. etc...

You can always return to stock by running an RUU which will also return the stock recovery. Your life will be much easier if you flash a recovery. My vote is DO IT!!

the main reason to stay with the stock recovery would be if you still wish to accept OTAs. however, there are other ways to skin the cat when there are updates ;)

its ultimately up to you wether to install amon permantly or not,but if you wish to flash different roms,it will prolly be a lil easier to have it on your phone, now that its capable fo flashing roms correctly

as brian mentioned, you can now change roms and backups on the fly, wich can be handy. more than once ive had to restore a backup in the middle of the day due to to an issue with a new rom. when i was s-on i had to refrain from testing things there may be issues with.
