    Is it gorilla glass?
    Ive wondered for a while.
Would rather have a wee scratch on the screen than on there i think...

Gorilla glass isn't scratch proof. Its just tough against cracks and smashes.

You could probably come off fine against a scissors blade or Stanley knife but dust/sand/dirt can be very scratchy... so even if it was GG, it wouldn't guard against what was needed to be.

I wonder if you can use a headlight restore kid to buff it out? Those coated?

If its not GG (which I assume its not) I see no reason why not. However, i'm not trying it.

My case protects it from surfaces so I'm generally safe...

Aparently car paint scratch restorer works on GG (it defo works on car windscreens) but, again, i wouldnt wana try it.
My unprotected screen is still flawless other than sometimes a flip case) from UK release anyway :)
Still no answer to my op though :(
Its basicly just academic, my lens is always protected although ive seen myself wipe it with my chest hair in the past lol :)
