    Ok, here is my situation.

Primary line is in Connecticut (I have an address there).
I have another address in Florida.
I'm currently in California until May, and have an address here.

As I understand, if I buy the phone in CA I have to pay the 9.75% sales tax on the full MSRP. So we're looking at like $50.

Can I avoid this if I buy it online but ship it to CA? Anything I can do to save some dough?

They might charge your tax based off the billing location. But at the sametime I have learned most places will not send stuff to addresses that are not the billing address for higher priced items especially.

If you buy it at Costco you will pay tax on the wholesale cost vs retail. Wholesale on the droid is 250.
I don't know about online but if you go to Orange county tax is 8.75%. Saves 1%

Buying online from a store without a physical location in your state is tax free*...

    * note you are supposed to claim it when filing your taxes. I live near Delaware (tax free shopping) and PA asks if you bought large ticket items tax free
