So I have a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate and recently I have been having one major problem with calls, when ever I receive or make a call I cannot hear the other person but they can hear me, my call volume is up, I even factory reset the phone, the weird thing is I can use a headset or when I use speakerphone it works, if you can give me some feedback it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

A user on another forum blew compressed ear into the earpiece and that helped him / her. Worth a shot.

BTW, interesting user name. Does the "N" stand for "and" or "in"? :p

ok i did some research on the internet the only way to fix the problem is plug a pair of headphones into the headphone jack. i cant explain how it works but it does. i dint want to always have to carry around headphones so i took the headphones plugged them in and cut the access wire off. this means the phone will only work on speaker phone or if you have a bluetooth device you can use the phone that way. the phone will still ring with the headphone jack plugged in and it with still make noise when you receive a text message. i hope this helps.

I have had that happen once. But I just kept on unplugging and plugging in a headphone until it started working correctly.

You'd be surprised how much dirt is jammed into a speaker jack, especially if you keep your phone in your pocket. What's happening is that there is a broken or dirty contact in the headphone jack that makes the phone think headphones are plugged in when they aren't. This disables the speaker but keeps the mike live. Sometimes compressed air or plugging/unplugging a set of headphones can get the speaker back, but id it's broken, then using bluetooth or a headset is your only option besides getting it repaired.
