Samsung Galaxy Portal not connecting to webSupport

    Bought mine from T-Mobile a week ago first new phone in 5 years, chuffed with all aspects but this evening it won't connect to internet. No other problems that I've come across so far, when it was connecting the icon was 3g, no icon displaying apart from battery & signal.

    Any suggestions & please don't talk techno as I'm a newby, please explain in plain English, thanks peeps :confused:

    have you changed any thing in the settings

    Not that I can remember, it came back almost as soon as I'd posted my message & it was fine until last night when the same thing happened again but not as long as the first time.

    it could have been because of the signal on your phone

    Most likely signal, sometimes it says it has 3G when it really only has a tiny bit of 3G signal and that's when it sometimes doesn't work for me. If you have WI-FI, you should ofc be using that, but I find that 3G works well whereever I have 2 blocks or more of signal.

    Check your APN (Access Point Names) settiings.

    These are the settings for T-Mobile UK.

    To view them,
    Menu
    Settings
    Wireless & Networks
    Mobile Networks
    Access Point Names

    Name: T-Mobile UK
    APN: general.t-mobile.uk
    Proxy: 149.254.201.132
    Port: 8080
    Username: t-mobile

    MMS
    MMSC: http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002
    MMS Proxy: 149.254.201.135
    MMS Port: 8080
    MCC: 234
    MNC: 30
    Authentication: Normal (PAP)
    APN Type: Internet + mms

    You may NOT have an entry in the Proxy Server.

    Hmmm i have same problem ! flashed my phone to 2.1 and i have no internet and no 3G signal etc and virgin site has no apn settings showing for my gt-i5700 :(

    now sorted as i had a look at my nexus s and it clicked that in the u.k t-mobile is the carrier for virgin ! So i used t-mobile apn settings and the 2.1 is running great on the portal now :) still so slow compared to the nexus but all android and all good fun !
