Samsung Galaxy S Battery Gets HotSupport

    Hi,
I just got a new Samsung Galaxy S phone from a local AT&T store in the US. I took the phone home the first day and spent a few hours scrolling thru the menus and getting familiar with the phone. I did a software update on the phone it has ver 2.1. I also went to a few websites to test the browser. I made about 3 calls and talked for about an hour. I had the phone turned on the entire time, I was not in standby mode.
After about 2 hours - the back of the phone where the battery is, started getting hot.

It didn't burn my hand but it was like holding a very hot cup of coffee in your hand. Very uncomfortable. Has anyone else had this problem with a battery getting hot?

Why is the battery overheating? I'm afraid to use the phone now, it might burn up something in the phone or ruin a memory card or something else.
What's causing the battery top get really hot? How do you fix this problem?

There have been rare cases where people have complained about Battery getting very hot. Though in the manual it is mentioned that while charging battery may get hot which is quite normal it doesnt say anything about it getting hot while usage.

I have never felt this issue *touchwood* though it is also true that I havent used my phone for extensive time at a stretch for the battery to get hot.

I would suggest that you try for 1-2 days and if the problem persist contact the customer care. Maybe the phone is faulty.

Hi Steve, Check AT&T coverage map... AT&T Coverage Viewer

If you are in dark blue (4G/LTE) you might have the same problem...
