They offered for me to buy out my remaining 13 months for $65, and possibly waive the activation fee.

I may go for it. This is a good chance to get out of this phone. If that's the case, see you guys later :D

Goodbye guys. I took advantage of this deal and I am out.

Let's just say the S3 is light years ahead of this phone.

Thanks for all the help the past couple years!

19 hours on batter, you can view it in the bright sun, big screen, fast, clear calls.

I put my Shine in the closet. I would make it into a wifi hotspot if it didn't choke with wifi.

Dam, I already traded in my LG Shine Plus for a HTC Desire HD. Oh well, by the time my 2-year contract is up, there will be an even better phone available :)

I'm just glad i was able to junk that LG Garbage Plus.

It's been a good couple months, and I am not missing it... still in my drawer somewhere.

I still use mine whenever I go somewhere and don't wanna lug around my Galaxy S2.. It's a great travel phone. ;)

I'm moving on to the Nexus 4 as soon as I can get it...

    Hey guys!

So I just got the JB update for the S3 and I my LG update nightmares come back to haunt me :)

Reception is now TERRIBLE and the telus carrier gets dropped. So sad!

It seems the android ecosystem is the big problem. I cursed my shine plus during that first 18 months of ownership. It is a common story. Buy a new android phone and enjoy it for about 3 months. A new OS version comes out but you are left envious for about six months as you clamour for an OS update for your phone. When you finally get the OS update for your phone, there is a chance that it will screw it up and you complain for another six months for a fix. There are so many different manufacturers, models and carriers which makes it difficult to fix one particular phone. Even if the OS update does not ruin your phone, there is a risk that some of your existing apps may not be compatible after an update until the app developer updates it for your particular model.

I have certainly learned my lesson with updating an OS right away. When iOS 6 came out for my wife's iPad 3, we waited over a month just to make sure that there were no major issues before updating (so far so good). With some more minor android phones with a smaller sample of owners, I would wait much longer to see if any issues get reported. In your case, the galaxy s3 is a major phone and the number of complaints reported have not been big. Of course, your problem may be unique to Telus and it would have been wise to see if other Telus S3 owners had reported any issues before updating. Hopefully, you do not have a major problem. Try a reset and hopefully that will fix it. Perhaps one of your apps is creating a problem.

It's usually the software, not the hardware. I have to admit that the latest 2.3.3 OS fix for my shine plus has it running pretty smoothly now, but it took a long time and a lot of grief. My recent new ebay battery has given me lots of battery life on my 2 year old shine plus (at least 3 full days of standby before charging). I have no problems sticking with this phone until my contract comes up for renewal next year (knock on wood).

It's true, iPhone users love to use that one against us and they have a point.

Well reception is due to my area. Go a few km south and I am perfectly fine. The rogue app which is causing the battery drain has been narrowed down: Google Play Music or Samsung Kies.
