IN MY OPINION, sept will bring nothing other than the GPS optimization.
Expect Froyo maybe in mid to late October.

Again this is just my personal opinion, it is not based on any factual information, so please save the attacks.

2.2 will unlock the full 512 MB RAM on the phone!

Currently on 2.1 we're only using 256 MB of RAM.

Correct me if I am wrong, anyone...

Yes I hope I'm wrong too, I want Foryo just as bad as anyone else! Seriously, Froyo has been out for MONTHS! By the time we get it, 3.0 will be out.

Tethering and Apps 2 SD seem to be the biggies for this release.

Yep, it will be because I am already hearing talk of 3.0 coming out soon, and then I think it is sad that others will get 3.0 while we are barely getting 2.2.

It yea is suppose to make it a lot faster, do the whole flash 10.1 thing, maybe make your phone into a wifi hotspot, plus u can download/install those apps that are 2.2 only like the new google voice app thing.

After Eclair, Froyo and Gingerbread, my question is when will Maalox be released?

The Hummingbird SOC on the Galaxy S devices (Vibrant included, naturally) includes 384MB DRAM and 128MB OneDRAM. I believe the Eclair kernal only recognizes somewhere around 330MB of that 384MB, so you won't really notice much of a jump in performance when 2.2 comes out (besides the scripted improvements, which tout +/- 5x better performance, which Droid 2 owners claim to not see). I believe the 384MB DRAM is what your applications use, and the 128MB OneDRAM is what the graphics use.

Cant we just be happy with what we have now? Seiously. I see posts in this forum saying "WHEN IS 2.2 COMING OUT", not but a day or so after the phone came out.

Im not picking on you alone, sammy V, its everyone who keeps whineing about 2.2. Quite frankly im tired of hearing it. It will come out when it comes out. RELAX. be happy with what you have and stop looking ahead. Look at the now.

Actually, the big features of 2.2 don't interest me all that much. I mean, it would be nice to have the most current OS release, but I just don't care about Flash, tethering/mobile hotspot or even A2SD. What I want more than anything is a properly working GPS and not having to use a lag fix.

2.2 will make it so that people wont have to use the lag fix, right?

also has any other phone had to use a lag fix?

Well, thats the thing our phones lag a lot and the battary dies so quick that we have nothing better to do then complain.

And also I would like to add that at this point its not really complaining...its more of way unfair. I mean it seems like ever other android got 2.2 except for the US Galaxy S phones.
