two questions how do i change the default ring count when unanswered there is no option to extend it say for 8 to ten rings ...

an when i link phone up to pc an it does the update it keeps stopping an saying not connected to internet an i have to keep hitting connect in kies driving me mad

You cant change as far as i know how long your ringtone rings for, pick a longer tune if needs be?

As for the whole constantly having to hit connect, mine was the same, if you are talking about downloading an updated Kies then find it on the Samsung website it will be alot quicker.
