Just got a Samsung Galaxy S2 from TMobile and paired it with my 2012 BMW X5. After two weeks of working flawlessly, I got into my car and started it up, the e iDrive/screen went red and would not function. It stayed like this for almost 6 hrs. BMW dealer said it was the Samsung phone.

I'm puzzled because it worked for 2 weeks without any problems. Has anyone heard of this problem before? I'm ready to return the phone if it has some type of conflict with BMW's iDrive.

Have you paired it with any other phones? Not for nothing but dealers always blame non OE devices when they have no clue WTF is going on. One of the reasons I used to hate doing dealer work, hard to keep a straight face. Hopefully someone can help, but so far haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Thanks, and you're right. I've got BMW pointing fingers at TMobile and vice versa. Unfortunately, I got rid of my Blackberry for the Samsung phone, so have not tried pairing any other phones.

And it did work flawlessly for the first two weeks I owned the vehicle.

Of course, in checking the BMW website for approved/tested phones and service providers, under AT&T, the Samsung Galaxy S2 is approved. However, it is not listed under TMobile. Would it be something in the specific carrier's version that causes the issue?

Well, the AT&T version of the phone is different from the T-Mo version of the hardware, but it may just be that they only tested it with the one device. It seems really odd that it worked for two weeks and then stopped. I have had some strangeness with my BT, but only pairing it with the main Mac system I use at a Uni computer lab where I work. In that situation though, it is in a lab where 45 machines plus everyone's phone/laptop in the lab as well as the neighboring office shows up on my phone, so it may just be a problem of interference, and I only had the problem once.

did you have other devices connected at the same time? i had my s2 connected as well as my ipod to my vehicle's media center and it crashed as well...system was unresponsive even after powering it off and on, still not functioning after turning the engine off and on. i got to work and checked after about 15 mins and it booted right back up. In my case i think it was my ipod because at the time it crashed it was streaming my ipod...but, I'd actually only had the s2 for a couple weeks when that happened so who knows. before this the system worked flawlessly since June with other phones and ipods connected.

Are you rooted? If so try this:

With titanium backup pro find the app called Bluetooth Share. Freeze this app. I found this suggestion in another car forum.

    Does it work you?
