Are you talking about scanning the text of the price sticker or label, or scanning the bar code? Scanning the bar code would require a database linking bar codes to prices - something I think would be impossible to come by. Scanning the text would require OCR. Either way, I don't think you'll have much luck.

As UncleMike said, that might be a hard one to do. In a perfect world, the store would have to have an app that you could use to scan the barcode with your phone that would then link to the current pricing for that item in your particular store for it to then keep a running total before you hit the checkout line. IMHO, that's a lot of coding and a lot of databases to keep updated.

Otherwise, you could just use the calculator app within Android to keep a running total yourself. Yeah, pretty lame and not nearly as feature rich as what you want, but it would still get the job done . . . .
