I had the Hero when we updated to 2.1 and hated my phone not even 5 minutes later. What are the benefits of me upgrading to 2.2 now? I am perfectly happy at 2.1, so what will I gain? Speed? It's fast enough for me now...Apps to SD, probably won't need it, never had a problem redownloading my apps, not like I have a lot of them...anything else? What are the benefits of saying on 2.1, instead of just piece of mind knowing everything works in my phone just fine lol.

Pretty sure that 2.2 supports Flash - which may or may not matter!

It makes the phone faster...but, THE MAIN THING FOR ME, is that it allows apps to be install on SD!

I know what you mean,I had the Hero as well and after receiving 2.1 it ran shaky,I don't think it was built to handle 2.1. I have the HTC EVO with 2.2 and trust me you wont regret it.

The release is pretty buggy. I'd wait till the official OTA is rolled out

This isn't official? I thought this was from Sprint or whatever.

It is an official release from Sprint, but this is definitely not the final version. It's most likely a final build that released to get the final kinks out.

Please provide a link where Sprint says this is a release. As of this writing, I can find no such announcement. Sprint's own site and user forum are silent on the matter. So far, we only know for sure it is a leak. It certainly is software produced by Sprint, but there is no official indication that DK28 has been released and officially supported for general use.

Definite increase in speed, flash is finally available, seems to be a solid improvement in battery speed as well. All in all I am very happy with the upgrade. Just do it!

Does 2.2 help out in the lag department?

I'm waiting until they can confirm root on 2.2 before I upgrade, oh that and no major issues.

Don't all the major ROMS already have 2.2 root?

There is a reason why 2.2 has not been officially released by Sprint yet, it's not ready for prime time. Wait until the update is sent to your phone, or suffer the consequences. What's the big hurry?

Yes it does. Actually, I didn't put live wallpapers in 2.1 because of the lag, but I run live wallpapers will the 2.2 update and its still pretty snappy.

It's Primetime enough over here... I'm liking it quite much... Do u all know what Betas are? this is all this release is; a beta of the release, which in most cases the release is the Beta & if they change anything else, it will be slight, & we that are running the beta will easily switch to it if needed jus as we did this build...

I agree. No reason to be the early adopter and risk bricking your phone.

I always wait because there could be significant bugs that could bite early adopters.

I would like avoid the update myself.

After going through 4 evo's because of battery life. The only thing I could figure out to be the problem was the upgrade to 2.2.

When I first got the evo it would last all day. Then it would last 5 hours with NO use. after going through 3 refurbs and a new in box evo all with the same issue I finally had to sell them back and purchase an epic. Now my battery will last 24 plus hours with use.

    Frankly I scared!

been running it since it came out..Had a few problems at firsts,it was buggy and gps did not work. After the "GPS fix" it solved all my problems.
All apps work, flash, gps locks on, etc. Very awesome. It worked just like the 2.1 but better and more capabilities.

Only bug I noticed in the stock internet browser, it would have dots when scrolling, but that is all fixed after i downloaded dolphin hd.

So far I am loving the phone with the unofficial rooted froyo and would recommend it to anyone!
the new youtube app on this is amazing! trust me you will not be disappointed. I did not even use Odin to flash.
