Root Screen not working...

I saw that I had a notification earlier and when I went to slide to unlock the screen wasn't responding anywhere on it. I thought I tried installing a new rom, but I couldn't enable usb access, so I just backed up and tried both a restore and a wipe, neither of those worked so I'm assuming it's a problem with the hardware. Would I need to unroot before I take it into verizon tomorrow? What would be the best way of doing this with no screen access?
