Screen Protectors, Who uses them?

  1. Nice little aside here which is an additional reason to use a screen protector The newest android screens are so sensitive that hovering your finger near a button or link will click it. A couple years back by accident I goofed and left the outer clear plastic on my screen protector and didn't notice till it was time to replace the protector I was very pleased that the screen wasn't as sensitive as before and more surprised to see the real protector was still unscratched beneath the clear cover. Now, as a matter of habit, I leave the outer clear cover on the screen protector which doubles the protection and eliminates sensitive screen syndrome. It's evidently made of the same polymer as the protector because it stands up to some nasty abuse.

It comes down to two things mostly:

    1) If you're careful and you dont live near the beach, you probably dont need it.

    2) If you occasionally drop stuff, and/or get sand or dirt in the places you will keep the phone, a screen protector can be helpful.

It will reduce sensitivity, but most people dislike that, (although some do like it).

Nothing wrong with getting one if you think you want/need it. But it's far from an absolute must with hardened glass (gorilla or other brands)

I got one mostly for the peace of mind.

I have a Zagg on my new bolt as double reassurance. Not just peace of mind, but because I visit my parents who live at the beach often and participate in a large number of outdoor activities where my screen can become damaged.

The last thing I want to do is have a tiny mark on my screen when it could have been prevented.

Personally, I also use screen protectors because I tend to have sweaty/oily hands and I hate leaving smudges on my screen. Though I'm dissatisfied with my current clarivue protector, as the plastic scratches even with a light touch of my fingernail, and it seems to be stretching itself randomly...

I have used one on my devices vid/cams, camerasand phone screens since i first heard of them years ago, and almost a year on my galaxy S (second) and has saved me a few bad scratches along the way. and have never noticed any loss in precision or screen quality. have use the cheap and expensive ones they all do a good job esp the silicone ones. :)

I like my Galaxy S II X Screen far too much to put a screen protector on, like all have said sand is your only enemy.

I've used Skinomi screen protectors for my past few phones and have been pretty happy. Is there anything else someone recommends? Just got my Galaxy Nexus (!!) and looking to find a good skin protector.

I really think all phones should start including one (honestly more useful than having my 10th pair of crappy earbuds).

I use XO Skins. They don't have orange peel or rubbery texture like other military grade ones. Plus they do a killer job of hiding fingerprints.

I use one just in case my screen gets scratched or something. Its worth the money and u have to put them on in a dust free area and use a credit card to flatten it properly to avoid bubbles

I just had Best Buy install a Zaag Invisible Shield screen protector on my Motorola Electrify. I was using a USCC brand screen protector. The Zaag, so far, is worth the extra $'s.

I have a Casio Commando (toughest phone IMO) and I have used screen protectors on all my past phones.

1st reason is for the scratch protection on the screen however minimal it provides, the 2nd reason is that anytime glass breaks/cracks, shards of glass can go flying and having a screen protector prevents anyone from getting cut or leaving a mess of glass.

My phone was delivered with a screen protector already applied, so I did not see the need to apply an extra one. Also: I like the screen like this. It feels very silky and smooth.
I spent like 5 minutes behind the sewing machine and made a little pouch lined with flannel. My phone lives there when I take it anywhere or when I'm not using it.
I am also pretty gentle and careful with my gadgets, so I think this and the scratch resistant glass is enough.

I'm extremely careful with my devices and really picky, so I use a screen protector no matter what because even a tiny scratch on my phone annoys me. I want my phone looking like new all the time.

I completely understand where you're coming from, sometimes it can be a hassle. However, the few minutes that it takes to apply a screen protector can protect your phone from nicks and scratches- which will ultimately make your phone easier to sell to another person or to Sprint's buyback program.(they buyback most carrier's devices) Some people don't believe screen protectors make a difference- but if you apply them properly and use another protective shield (i.e) Otterbox is a great case- it will definitely keep your phone in great condition!

I'm curious about the Zagg fullbody for my Rezound. I've used the their screen shields before and actually really like the soft, bouncier feel to them. Is the fully body just the same thing all around? Are you saying you put a hard case over the zagg? It must not add much bulk at all then.

Anyone have any experience with the ZaggSkins? I'm curious as to how nice the printing looks in person.

Love Screen Protectors! I'm very careful with my phones, but I always buy one, no matter if its the cheap stuff, it still works.

I have tried the regular clear one, the mirrored ones, and the anti-glare ones.

The mirrored ones are ok but after a while the mirror starts to fade on the edges and just makes your phone look hideous! I only got one because I had a chrome CaseMate casing on my iPhone 3GS and it just completed the "Chrome" look to it. It did look awesome though! The only problem with these though are the sunlight, it makes it impossible to use your phone out in the daylight!

The Clear and Anti-Glare ones are a tie for me, they are both better than the Mirrored Screen Protectors.

The Clear one is great if your the kind of person that likes to make their phone look shiny. Its usable in the sunlight, a little hard to see but definitely usable.

The Anti-Glare Screen Protector takes away the Screen's shininess, but it makes it a whole lot easier to use in sunlight. I also like it cause the Matte finishing on it doesn't let your fingers stick on the screen like the screen's glass or the clear screen protectors do.

I love the shininess of my phone's screen, but I guess I kinda dig the Anti-Glare slightly more.

I have a SGS2 now and that baby has a screen protector on it, its the clear one, IDK if I should get the Anti-Glare one for it yet, maybe once I get tired of the clear one.

a screen protector is a good cheap way to protect the most integral part of any mobie device, regardless of generation. and seeing as how all of the phones nowadays are touchscreens, why not spend 3 bucks (shipped) on amazon for a five-pack of screenies and not have to worry about it for a while?
