Help Screen won't come on after ear speaker installation

Does anyone have a clue what could have happened? My phone was working fine, except for the ear speaker. I ordered one took the phone apart installed it now it powers on but I have no screen. It says "droid" just like always but nothing else works. This is the second time I have been into it because I replaced the digitizer screen and all was well with that repair. The tab that is on the place where the ribbon goes broke off could that be the problem? This phone has not been so "incredible". Should I just trash it and go back to my blackberry? Help!

It sounds like a problem with the proximity sensor. Have you checked to make sure that the sensor can 'see' correctly? Maybe something inside is covering the sensor, or it's off center to it's peep hole.
