/sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails storage hog

This directory is only visible on a rooted phone with a file browser that can see . Dot hidden files and folders.

Create or use any file that small in size, even 0 bytes.

Rename the .thumbnail* file here to old.thumbnail.

Move, then rename the small size file to the .thumbnail* filename.

Delete all other *.jpg thumbnail files in this folder.

This prevents android from creating space hogging thumbnails, but does slow down picture previews. On my F6 with about 2500 images, resulted in 130mb more free storage space for apps.
