    I am so confused.
I downgraded from OTA 2.2 to 2.1, and ran unrevoked3. (then realized how bad of an idea that was) I flashed a rooted stock 2.2 and netarchy kernal and it ran good but i needed a full root.

So, I attempted to do a few things.. and i screwed up everything and have no idea where to go next. Heres what i did.

I flashed 2.1, and tried simpleroot (new updated version) on a pc i could get a hold of and i get errors and it just sucked.
I tried the 'unroot' method also on the pc, and it wouldnt run. Sucked.

So now im stuck with a half-ass rooted 2.1 evo that i cant fix or update and i hate it.
Also, i can not boot into recovery?? I get the red triangle. Rom manager wont work for me...???? "An error occured while attempting to run privileged commands"
I cant wipe caches and flash a new kernal now...

If someone would please do me a kindness and help me out..?
Or if anyone lives near Tampa, Florida and wants to give me a lesson ill buy beer..or coffee..or whatever if you just take a couple minutes and set me straight :(
I have such a headache, and im starting to miss my blackberry :(

If you can flash kernels and the stock rom (through a recovery image I'm guessing) like you said you could right there, you have full root.

he had full root with unrevoked3 but what it sounds like he wanted was the ENG bootloader so he could run full fastboot commands unlike the crippled command set in the non engineering bootloader

If your on 2.1 and you want to run the RUU and return to full stock, follow this guide

    Part one

    Part two

    Or,

if you want to root 2.2

    Here's the root for 2.2

It sounds like you tried to run the new OTA Simpleroot, when you possibly didn't have the newest OTA update. So I'd recomend running the old 3 click Simpleroot - [Program] SimpleRoot .1 ---- 3 Click Root w/ nand unlock!! - xda-developers

make sure you have the new rom you want to install on your SD card before you run the program, makes it easier I found when you are done.

Actually i did them both.. The thing is, im already rooted, and both programs would just open up cmd and just sit and wait and not do anything.
So i flashed RA, and id didnt do it.

I originally did the root for 2.2...
And i followed Part one of your guide, but i got stopped every time at the recovery part. I am doing it on a Mac, and every time i get errors for the recovery flashing..
Edit: Will following your part one and using the RUU from the xda rom list bring me to factory unrooted..?

I had root with unrevoked3, i dont think it was full though, the hboot screen shows me the numbers for non-NAND unlocked (I think its 79.000...??)

I feel like im reeeeally effed... And i feel like im on the road to bricking my evo.

Follow toasted's post for going back to complete 2.1 stock with the RUU. Then try simpleroot.

if you decide to simpleroot, make sure you use the correct simpleroot for your version of 2.1. The one in my sig is made for 1.47, but your RUU will put you back to 1.32. So find Simpleroot for 1.32. I believe that's a 3-click version.

Wow i am thoroughly irritated and completely give up. Nothing worked like it was supposed to.
I went back to "Stock 2.1 RUU" and wiped my phone....yet again.... And im still not unrooted.
And on 2.1, there is no HTC software update available for me. (Your phone is up to date) which will probably brick my phone anyway. fml

I have this one, and it wouldnt connect to the update server. So i tried to run it and clicked the steps. But nothing happened..
