I'm using Timeriffic to turn my ringer and notification volume off at night. However, if I get a call from some of my contacts, I would like my phone to ring. Is there a way to set up my phone so that some contacts will be able to ring my phone, even if the ringer volume is off?

    I was just thinking that.
I set up my GVoice number only as an Emergency number for my GF yesterday. She had a major issue when my phone was on silent - and I NEED that GVoice number to ring if it's silent.
    I use Setting Profiles

Allows you to put any number in your "white list" which is your list of numbers that will always ring even if phone is in silent.

You can also set it so that it won't ring unless you have missed 2 calls from the same number in under 2 minutes or whatever low time amount you decide. I use that so it won't ring if my sister calls just to talk but it will if she calls twice in under 2 minutes if there is an emergency. Just have to let whoever you want know that if there is an emergency call twice in rapid succession.

    Hope this helps.

Try Settings Profiles - useful for so much more, but this option is in there.

Are you rooted or running stock? I have stock 2.1 and don't have a profiles option in settings. I do not believe that this can be done without the help of an app.

@kratos. "Settings profiles" is a program you can download from the market. It is very useful for many more issues than this but that option is in there o believe. It is very similar to "locale". I believe that is what he meant.

Yes I meant the app "Settings Profiles". There you can set a condition for an incoming call (or sms) and have an action happen - such as a sound or text notification / vibrate / or whatever you wish. Like I said MANY more uses for this app, it replaced 3 apps I was using before I had it, and several since. Best $3 I've spent.
