I look at reviews of phone and whenever they go to their settings their background is a nice black color, but on mine it's a nasty pasty white :C Is there any way to change this? The same goes for the contacts, it's all white D:!
I have an unrooted, 2.3 Gingerbread atrix from AT&T

Those screenshots in the reviews were from months ago when the phone first came out. It was running 2.2 (FroYo).

Gingerbread (2.3) uses the black text on an off-white background. This is much easier on most people's eyes (Myself, it HURTS to read light text on a black background). It's also easier to see in bright light.

This is part of the OS and not a user configurable setting.

You can either install one of the themes that has the inverted settings or you can do it yourself..

You will need to decompile Settings.apk and Contacts.apk to do this.

Decompile the files and open up AndroidManifest.xml(I use Notepad++) and look for this line:

application android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Light (line 50 or so)

    and change it to this:

    application android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Black"
