I just put the netarchy toastmod 4.1.9 fresh compatible kernel on my evo after having horrible battery with the stock fresh 3.3 kernel. I've read people saying not to use profiles.

Does the kernel i installed use havs ? I read not to use profiles with havs kernels. My evo on the main page of setcpu reads (after autoconfigure):

    scaling conservative
    998 max 128 min

I am trying to acheive the best battery results. Is this good or is there another way to set it better ? Should i use profiles to help things ? thanks in advance

I do use profiles. The one I find most useful is screen off, I have it set to minimums for this and it seems to help alot.

I use Fresh 3.3.0.1. w/ Netarchy 4.1.9. cfs Fresh Compatible as well. I started with Fresh 3.3.0.1. w/ stock kernel and enjoyed very good battery performance. I then flashed Netarchy 4.1.9. cfs and found I could over/under clock my CPU, so I installed SetCPU and set up profiles. While I was at it, I installed Juice Defender and more or less set that up. Battery life was amazing.

Then I read not to use SetCPU profiles with H.A.V.S. enabled kernels. I disabled profiles and set main to min 128 max 998 - conservative - set on boot. I see no difference. Battery life is the same. It's so good it has become a non-issue for me. I haven't played with it for a few weeks now and leave my spare battery at home.

Same set up. My phone didn't like profiles tho. Went back to the 128-1152 setting and all is well. When i need the battery to last longer I manually set the max to 600. Seems to help

he is in fact the author of the post so why would he not read a response...

i don't agree with exbusser's posts like above but he makes a valid point....on this very page:

    http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/200079-what-setcpu.html

and it is among oh so many active battery related posts in the evo section.

it doesn't bug me enough to dedicate a response to "why not search" or "hey someone asked that yesterday" or something like the above but it does make me wonder...

how many don't take the time to research and find a solution. it seems more often than not society simply asks for the answer rather than look.

i actually love helping...and enjoy research...so more times than not my response is going to be answer blah blah blah...btw check out this

in real life it's more common for me to respond "Well, I don't know......did you ask Google?"

I always search before posting a thread. Not every thread is my exact phone, rom, kernel and question. To many divas in these forums. Just can't help being negative ... smh

Every phone will be different. Did u wipe dalvick, cache, and bat sttats prior to flashing kernel? What were you doing in those few minutes?

I noticed in my system panel monitor that my phone was real busy while I was sleep. It shows alot of activity. What should I set the screen off profile too to reduce this?

One variable that I forgot about until now was Juice Defender. I have had it running since I installed SetCPU. Setting it up was confusing. It wasn't very intuitive (to me anyway), but I think it's safe to say that when my screen is off, my phone essentially goes into airplane mode. It receives phone calls, syncs the e-mail and that's it.

F.Y.I. I don't have any sync-capable applications running on my phone other than the weather thing and e-mail. I use it for phone calls, e-mail, and as a portable internet connection. That's it. If my battery performance seems atypical, perhaps that is why.
