Should I buy the Samsung intercept on Virgin Mobile?

Alright guys, don't fail me now

I am wanting to buy the intercept on virgin mobile in a few days. I hear people complain all the time that it freezes, lags, and is all around sluggish. And yet, when I watch videos of it on youtube, it seems to work perfectly fine. I am getting mixed signals here. Any people who own Samsung intercepts care to share their experiences? Also, anyone on sprint who got the upgrade, could you give me like a before / after review on Froyo? Does the phone run faster / freeze still? Thanks in advance to any of you who can help.

I have had mine for about a month and a half now. I will occasionally have small issues but nothing that really bugs me. I really love the phone, so many apps to choose from on the Android Market and just so much to do with the phone, I never get bored anymore, anywhere. It is a great phone, highly recommend it and it cheap as hell for the service, I get 3G signal just about everywhere, the call quality is great, never drops calls. Internet is quick and the option of having WiFi where available just makes it that much better.I would get it if I were you, some people can be extremely picky with their phone, and those are probably the ones complaining about every tiny thing. I am excited for 2.2 to come out so with the update, it's gonna be even faster which will be nice. I can honestly say the only small complaints I have is the battery goes so quick when you use apps constantly, and it can SOMETIMES get a little laggy here and there but it doesn't last long. So they aren't so bad that I wanna throw my phone, but it all depends on the type of person you are.

I've had mine for a couple months now. There are definitely some issues with lag, especially in and out of calls. It occasionally locks up from time to time, for about 20 seconds or so.. it's definitely a little frustrating when that happens. Also, I'm not sure if this is because of the phone or VM, but sometimes you don't receive pic messages. Some of these issues should be fixed with Froyo, which apparently is coming sometime this week, so I'd at least wait until that comes out.

For the positives of the phone..
1. $25 a month. That's a bargain, and to be honest, the small issues are worth putting up with for the amount you save every month
2. YouTube app has been flawless for me, if that's important to you
3. The keyboard is awesome

I had mine since the first week that VM offered it, and now i have a story.. After a trip to the local casino and a couple of beers i decided to go to the restroom, i get to the stall and pull out my phone to check the time, the phone slipped from my hand and fell inside the toilet!! it hit the water for easy 1-2 second reached in and pulled it out and took it apart as soon as i took it out let it dry over night and turn it on in the morning, Nothing happen to the phone!! everything seems to be working fine.... So i LOVE this phone!

If you have not purchased this phone I say don't.
I spent 250 for mine and regret the move.
VM service is great and the cost of service is much better that my previous carrier, but the phone is crap.
Don't take it out in temps below 40 deg, it becomes unresponsive. When it does work it almost never does what you are telling it to do. It saves everything and never closes apps after you are done with them so you have to add apps to shut the others down and to clean SSM space.
This phone has seriously disenchanted me on touch phones. I would sell mine if I could but I don't want to sell such a POS to some one.
Good luck finding a phone but stay away from the intercept.

I almost passed on my Intercept from Virgin Mobile. I can tell you with
without a doubt I'm glad I reconsidered. I read into the reviews that
talked about the phone freezing and being sluggish.. However I find
that this only becomes a reality if you load the phone down with apps
and are not mindful of how much internal memory you have left.

2.2 will address even this by allowing the user to move apps to your
SD Card and free up memory. Keep in mind, the apps will need to be
able to run from the card - But even the option is a great thing.

What I like:

1. Price - $25 for service can't be beat.
2. Android OS - Words can not describe how much I like this. :)
3. Apps - So far the market has not let me down. I only have
a handful of apps installed, but everything I've needed for both
work and play has been here.

What I wish was done differently:

1. Keyboard design - I got used to it but the learning curve would
been easier had they not condensed keys to fit it in to a smaller
design.

That's it. The phone works great and I use it for both business
and pleasure. Even Angry Birds works now that the game designers
updated app to address the Intercept's unique resolution issues.

His "this week" was way back on the Jan 1st - I dont think we will see an update till summer - if at all.

If VM came out and said "no update" - it would kill sales of the intercept overnight - hence the vagueness.

Just my 2c.

Believe it or not., virgin mobile tweeted that the Update will be out thisbspring, exact date is not known. I Started a thread about it already. Just search coeur in the forums, and join the chat!

I did buy the phone at a local VM store and I like it, Is is a bit slow and unresponsive at time. And I don't have it loaded down with aps. The internet is slow and unpredictable at times.. I am with in the coverage area thoe..

Anyways My daughter want one and on ebay I can get a Intercept but for the sprint network. Now these phones on sprint and VM are the sames thing, so can that one from the sprint network work on the VM network??

Skip the Intercept unless you MUST have a physical key board. It was ok, but sometimes annoyingly slow. So I figred I would just get the Optimus V until they come out with the rumored High End Samsung Galaxy. I. Luv. It. And i won't need the Galaxy now. I am so pleased with the Optimus. It does everything the way it's suppose to. It is just as responsive as my iPod Touch, and thats as good as it gets. And it was cheaper than the Intercept!

I like my Intercept for the following:

Physical landscape mode QWERTY keyboard
Glass touch screen
800 Mhz processor
Will be more awesome after Android 2.2 (Froyo) upgrade around 3/25/2011

I use it mainly for SMS (Text) - I receive at least 60 texts per day for work/business
I also use it for personal e-mail, work/business e-mail
I use Web, Youtube, Streaming music TunedIn, iHeartradio
Maps/Navigation is great
Calendar, Astrid Tasks, Memo, Alarm Clock
Camera, Video
Facebook, Vonage for Facebook, Talk

No games yet.

Go Launcher Ex, Lookout security, Backup Everything and Android Assistant keep it sane.

My take is to keep at least 50 MB RAM free anytime. Clean Cache and close not in use Apps.

Will install many Apps to SD card after Android 2.2 upgrade.

As long as this phone has enough power and enough memory (50 MB) it runs great for me.
