It's ugly as sin, with a massive screen that's lower resolution than its chief competitor, and most importantly, runs an ugly version (when compared to HTC Sense) of the Android UI. Should I get it?

You will have to wait until 7/23 they are out of stock already.

It doesn't sound as if it is a phone you're too excited about. Why don't you wait for the Fascinate. Check out our forum for it: Samsung Fascinate - Android Forums

    Sincerely,
    Steven

This ^ it's almost as if the carriers are doing it on purpose to build up hype and demand

It sounds as though you've already made up your mind about this one.... so don't bother.

Agreed, although I might have put it slightly more diplomatically. :)

You're going to have to live with the handset for some time, so there's absolutely no sense in purchasing anything unless you are 100% comfortable with the decision.
